A Day at Modern School in New Dehli
Hey there everybody, this is Jensen again. Today we had a packed day and did lots of interesting things.
First, this morning we went and did class room visits with a group of sixth graders. When we first walked into the room, they immediately gave us crowns to wear for our visit with them.
We had a lot of fun answering their questions, learning about traditional Indian culture, hearing the students sing Imagine and Mr. Kehlenbeck even sang a song with them. At the end of the visit, we made an American flag out of our thumbprints.
After the classroom visits, we went to go play a game that was sort of like bingo. The game was based on getting as many numbers crossed out on this score card as possible, and you could cross off numbers by answering simple math questions shown on the board. It was quite fun, even though it was a game governed completely by chance.
We then had the privilege to witness a traditional Indian dancer perform. It was amazing to see the precision and passion that she put into her art and I throughly enjoyed the extensive two hour session with her.
After that, we had lunch at the school. We then got to see a group called “LIVEJAM” perform. They had an amazing beat boxer and they were extremely good musicians.
Finally, we did our presentations we prepared on the refugee crisis, and whether or not skin whitening creams are racist or not. All in all, it was a very fun day and I can’t wait for tomorrow.
